How Solar Works
1. Sunlight hits solar panel
Sunlight hits the layers of your solar panels, and photons and electrons interact to create an electrical current.
2. Electrical current goes into inverter
The electrical current flows from the panels down to your solar inverter, which converts the energy generated from your panels (DC) into usable energy for your home (AC).
3. AC energy goes to your breaker
The AC energy flows from the inverter into your breaker (electric) box, which will then circulate throughout your home.
4. Excess energy gets stored
Excess AC energy produced for your home will flow to your meter and either stay stored in a solar battery or go to the utility grid (net metering).
